Active holidays in South Tyrol

A holiday full of experiences

South Tyrol is a paradise for active holidaymakers!

You can take off with your bike directly in front of the farm. The bicycle path leads you alongside the river Etsch to Bolzano and further to the Lake Garda. Alternatively you can take the train into the valley Vinschgau and bike back downwards through the beautiful landscape.

Enthusiast of racing bicycles can conquer mountain passes and mountain bikers can cycle to alps and through forests. South Tyrol possesses a network of bicycle paths that is 400 kilometers long.

Ramblers are able to hike a different tour every day. You can walk alongside Waale (= small streams used to water the fields of farmers) or between alpine farms (Höfetour), explore canyons (e.g. Gaulschlucht) or a fitness trail (Count Volkmar Trimm-dich-Pfad). There are also many aerial tramways that can take you to for example Vöran, Vigljoch or Meran 2000. In those hiking areas many trails await you!

On hot summer days you can enjoy yourselves in the many public swimming pools. The one in Lana is only 800 meters away and there is also the natural bathing pond of Gargazon close-by (3 kilometers). Equally popular are the lakes in Montiggl and Kaltern as well as the water park Naturns. During the cold season you can relax in the thermal baths of the Therme Meran.

Among other favored leisure time activities are: playing golf, miniature golf or tennis, fishing, horseback-riding, paragliding, parachuting etc.

Postal/Lana is also the place to be during winter. Many skiing-areas like Meran 2000, Vigiljoch and Schwemmalm (Ultental) are a short drive away.

Alternatives to skiing are sledding, ice skating, snowshoeing and hiking.
